Foxie's Snow Day

Foxie woke up all on her own, which was a weird feeling because usually her mom woke her up for school. She looked at the clock on her bedside table and noticed that she was late to school. Oh, no! Mom and I both overslept and now I’m going to miss school! Foxie thought to herself as she threw on her clothes and ran down the hall screaming for her mother.

“Calm down, Foxie, I’m right here!” Her mom replied, “What is wrong?”

Foxie explained that she was late for school and she felt nervous and upset about that. Foxie’s mom listened to her and then began to chuckle lightly. Foxie’s eyes widened and then her mother pointed toward the widow. Foxie looked over, saw the entire yard covered in the most beautiful, white snow. Foxie knew that school had been cancelled, and she squealed at the white blanket in the yard. She immediately ran to put more clothing on and came back to ask about playing in the snow. Bundled up and ready to make a snowman, a snow angel, and some snowballs, Foxie ran outside and plopped down into the snow.

Foxie felt very cold, but she was having too much fun to care. Her neighborhood friends must have seen her outside because they came out to play with her, too. Another child threw what felt like a huge snowball right at Foxie’s back. Foxie spun around and giggled, falling onto the ground and pretending to be hurt for only a moment. Then, she hopped back up and retaliated with a snowball hurling toward her friend. The other kids took part in this tomfoolery and soon enough a full blown snowball fight was underway. With snow flying around and giggles to be heard, Foxie and her friends had an amazing time. Eventually, they worked together to build a snowman which was adorned with a hat and scarf provided by Foxie’s mom. Time flew by as they had so much fun in the snow.

“Foxie, let’s go inside for some hot coco!” Foxie’s mom called out the door for Foxie to come inside. Her mom helped her make her hot coco and stirred it with a peppermint stick which she then was allowed to have. Topped with marshmallows and whipped cream, Foxie plopped onto the sofa and turned on her favorite winter time move: one about some ducks migrating for winter. She had always dreamed of going somewhere warm for the winter months, but her family wasn’t big on traveling - that and the fact that Foxie needs to go to school on non snow days, even in the winter, unfortunately. Anyways, Foxie was very happy, warm, and comfortable with her movie and hot coco. Foxie loves snow days.
